Annie Jr. Giveaway

| February 26, 2013 | 34 Comments

Does the meer thought of little orphan Annie singing “the sun’ll come out tomorrow” bring a smile to your face? Young Actors Stage presents youth ages 6-14 in the classic story of the favorite red-headed little girl. Performances will be this Friday, March 1st – Sunday, March 3rd at the 24th Street Theatre. Seeing other kids singing and dancing their hearts out is a fantastic way to inspire your kids and develop their appreciation for the arts!

Based on the popular Broadway musical, “Annie Jr.” tells the story of a spunky, Depression-era orphan who is determined to find her parents who abandoned her on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil plans, befriends President Franklin Roosevelt and finds a new family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.  Annie Jr features songs from the original Broadway show including “Tomorrow”; “Hard-Knock Life”; “Little Girls” and “Maybe.”

I am such a fan of Young Actor’s Stage, a musical theatre program for children directed by the fabulous Liorah Singerman! As the arts have unfortunately been disappearing from our schools, Liorah had a fabulous idea to take her skills into Sacramento elementary schools in the form of workshops.  She created this theatre company to bring a love and appreciation of the performing arts to students and the community. The aim of Young Actor’s Stage is not only to create a foundation for dancing, singing, acting and performing, but also to nurture teamwork, concentration, imagination, and confidence that have been proven to carry over into all areas of academic learning.

I have seen what Liorah can do first-hand as my daughter participated in two previous Young Actors Stage productions and it has been most exciting for me to see her grow both in confidence and a love for theatre! She will be a part of this production by playing the part of the orphan, Tessie!

I am all about supporting the arts in our community and so I invite you to share with me YOUR child or organization’s show so that I can share it here on Sacramento Sidetracks.
