Burn the Floor for Date Night

Want an adrenaline rush without getting out of your seat?  Find a babysitter…quick!

You have 3 more nights to feel the rush of energy from the Burn the Floor cast at the Sacramento Community Center Theatre.  Music and dancing that will make you feel absolutely alive!  My husband and I went last night and found ourselves captivated with the thrill of it all.

Think Competitive Ballroom Dance meets Broadway.  Burn the Floor is an exciting review of ballroom dancing through the decades, from Latin and Afro-Brazilian rhythms to modern jazzy numbers.  The wildly fast movements come out of competitive dancing that these couples have done all over the world.  Their origins span the globe from Australia to Russia and Latin America.  We were excited to find that several of our favorite So You Thing You Can Dance dancers were in the show!

Another fun surprise was one of our favorite American Idol contestants, Vonzell Solomon,  just joined the cast as the female vocalist for several of the numbers.  This girl has the pipes and the moves!  I imagine that the rest of the audience felt like they wanted to get up and dance like we did during songs like “It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing”, “The Dirty Boogie” and…well…I don’t want to give away the ending!

My husband said it was the best show he had ever seen in his life.  No joke!

My love for exploring and creating experiences with my three kids led to the founding of SacramentoSidetracks.com in 2009. I realized that Sacramento has so much to offer and I was excited to share my findings with other parents. Besides simply having fun, these are the other positive side effects of taking my kids on outings that I’ve discovered: we have quality time together away from the distractions at home, we cultivate our curiosity, learn new things, conversations are triggered by what we see and do, we connect and bond as a family, and we create new memories. Ready to get sidetracked, too? Let me be your guide!
