Fairytale Town Goes Green

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. It was at last year’s Fairytale Town Goes Green event that this phrase was really understood by my daughter for the first time!  Fairytale Town knows how to make going green fun for kids!

Join Fairytale Town and several local area organizations this Saturday to spend the day promoting environmental awareness.  The event will feature educational displays on global warming, conservation and pollution.  Children will be able to participate in various free recycled hands-on art activities, such as making kites from recycled newspaper and art collages from recycled magazines.  Local area organizations will also be on hand with booths to discuss green programs they offer, and to provide tips and tools on how to get started.

Puppet Art Theater (always funny!) will be performing The Three Little Pigs, with a conservation twist, in the Children’s Theater.  Puppet Show times are 12:30PM, 1:30PM & 2:30PM.

When: Saturday, March 26, 2011; 11am – 3pm
Park Hours:  9am – 4pm daily (weather permitting)
Where: Fairytale Town, 3901 Land Park Drive, Sacramento
Cost: Adults & Kids 2-12 $4.50, age 1 and under free
Puppet show tickets are $1.00 members/$2.00 nonmembers.

My love for exploring and creating experiences with my three kids led to the founding of SacramentoSidetracks.com in 2009. I realized that Sacramento has so much to offer and I was excited to share my findings with other parents. Besides simply having fun, these are the other positive side effects of taking my kids on outings that I’ve discovered: we have quality time together away from the distractions at home, we cultivate our curiosity, learn new things, conversations are triggered by what we see and do, we connect and bond as a family, and we create new memories. Ready to get sidetracked, too? Let me be your guide!
