Listen to Your Mother coming to Sac this Sunday

listen to your mother

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a special show filled with original live-readings!

Spend Mother’s Day with the kids, and then take your mom, or your wife, or your girlfriends out to an evening show that’s all about Mom…you will find yourself saying, “Me too!”

The “Listen to Your Mother” show is a live-on-stage performance that’s not like anything you’ve seen before in Sacramento. The cast members will each take to the stage and read their personal stories that explore the complexities and absurdities of motherhood.

The diverse cast shares stories that are inspiring and moving, personal and vulnerable, funny and absurd. All the performers are local to Sacramento and while some are professional writers, bloggers and artists, others are office workers, teachers and everyday moms.

A portion of the ticket proceeds benefits 916 Ink, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the literacy rate of Sacramento’s youth.

The show is part of a 24-city nationwide Mother’s Day event that started in 2010 and began appearing in San Francisco, Chicago and New York, and now it’s coming to Sacramento!

Directed and produced by Nichole Beaudry and Margaret Andrews

When: Sunday, May 13; 7pm
Where: The Crest Theatre, 1013 K Street, Sacramento
Tickets: $20.00 Advance/$25.00 Day Of Show

My love for exploring and creating experiences with my three kids led to the founding of SacramentoSidetracks.com in 2009. I realized that Sacramento has so much to offer and I was excited to share my findings with other parents. Besides simply having fun, these are the other positive side effects of taking my kids on outings that I’ve discovered: we have quality time together away from the distractions at home, we cultivate our curiosity, learn new things, conversations are triggered by what we see and do, we connect and bond as a family, and we create new memories. Ready to get sidetracked, too? Let me be your guide!
