Quotes:

Shawn Blakeman, Technical Director: (on the 2016 summer camps)  Sac United is very proud of the soccer community is has built, making it one of the most successful and well known clubs in Northern California.  Our newly revamped summer camp program will give us the ability to share our training philosophy, love of the game and experienced coaches throughout the Sacramento soccer community.

Amsalu Fantahun: (on the SacTown Quickness Camp) Basic psychomotor skills are such an important part of any athlete’s development and training.  Incorporating running, throwing, jumping and pre-acrobatics into workouts benefits the player both on and off the field.  I know this camp will include drills the players may not be used to, but they will see the benefit in their speed and movement on the field.

Amsalu Fantahun: (on the Girls Only camp):  Offering a Girls Only camp will give players a unique experience to hone their skills in an encouraging fun environment.  Daily scrimmages will give players a chance to take what they’re learning and put it in a real game like situation.

Dustyn Brim, Director of Goalkeeper Development: (Goalkeeper Camp)  Goalkeepers are not often given the specific training they need as part of a regular team training.  This camp will help goalkeepers learn correct goalkeeping techniques and how to deal with the mental side of the game.

Dustyn Brim: (Summer Skills camp) We are expecting players of all abilities and will be ready to make sure are all challenged in different ways.  It will be exciting to see how all the technical and tactical skills players will learn will be put to good use during a World Cup style tournament on the final day.

My love for exploring and creating experiences with my three kids led to the founding of SacramentoSidetracks.com in 2009. I realized that Sacramento has so much to offer and I was excited to share my findings with other parents. Besides simply having fun, these are the other positive side effects of taking my kids on outings that I’ve discovered: we have quality time together away from the distractions at home, we cultivate our curiosity, learn new things, conversations are triggered by what we see and do, we connect and bond as a family, and we create new memories. Ready to get sidetracked, too? Let me be your guide!
