The 24th Street Theatre will be alive with the sound of Young Actor’s Stage’s experienced and talented youth from Friday, May 15 to Saturday, May 23!

Did you know that this year marks the 50th Anniversary of The Sound of Music? So it’s an extra fun time to see the final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein that became the world’s most beloved musical!

When a novice nun proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Once a loving father, he became a strict and detached disciplinarian. Maria re-introduces the children to music and through her growing rapport with the children and generous spirit, she gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain.

Whether you have little theatre-lovers at home or kids that have never seen a stage production before, this is the perfect time to enjoy a musical together! They’ll surely be singing “Do- Re -Mi,” “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria”, “16 Going on 17”, “Edelweiss,” and “My Favorite Things” long after!

My love for exploring and creating experiences with my three kids led to the founding of SacramentoSidetracks.com in 2009. I realized that Sacramento has so much to offer and I was excited to share my findings with other parents. Besides simply having fun, these are the other positive side effects of taking my kids on outings that I’ve discovered: we have quality time together away from the distractions at home, we cultivate our curiosity, learn new things, conversations are triggered by what we see and do, we connect and bond as a family, and we create new memories. Ready to get sidetracked, too? Let me be your guide!
