Hike to a Waterfall: The Hidden Falls Trail near Auburn

Did you know that you could hike to a gorgeous waterfall within an hour of Sacramento? We were thrilled to find the Hidden Falls Trail!

The Hidden Falls Trail is within Hidden Falls Regional Park in gorgeous woodlands near Auburn, in Placer County.

It is a 3.3 mile loop that is considered moderately challenging and takes an average of an hour and a half to complete. There are many trails in Hidden Falls Regional Park, so this is just one of many possible variations. It is perfect for families, just be aware there are some short, steep sections.

OUR EXPERIENCE:

This hike was so scenic and felt adventurous! We loved every bit of our time on the windy paths, little hills and then, of course, the grand finale – that waterfall! Breathtaking! It was exciting to reach the observation deck and spend some time viewing the waterfall and taking pictures.

We took this hike in March and I think that spring is the ideal time to go. Everything is bright green, the weather is nice and cool, and higher water levels make for a greater cascading waterfall. That being said, this would be a wonderful hike anytime of the year.
