Halloween Celebrations & Trick-or-Treating

Celebrate Halloween all month long in Sacramento with these family-friendly events that will provide your kids with safe trick-or-treating options and plenty of chances to wear those costumes more than once!

Here are the festive activities in date order so that you don’t miss a thing. Make some fun Halloween memories!

Spooky River Cruises

When: October Weekends
Where: Leaves from Old Sacramento L Street Dock
What: One-hour cruise on the Sacramento River, Halloween coloring/activity sheets for kids, music, face painting.
Cost: $20.00 per person

Halloween Fright Fest at Six Flags

When: Fridays – Sundays, September 24 – October 31
Where:
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Vallejo
What:
Enjoy frightful fun and spine-tingling adventures. Watch as the park transforms from “Thrills by Day” to “Fright by Night.” Seasonally-themed shows, attractions and lots of kid-friendly activities during the daylight hours. There’s traditional trick-or-treating in Looney Tunes Seaport, an elaborate pumpkin patch with cookie decorating and a pint-sized hay maze. When the clock strikes 6:00 p.m., the sun goes down and the ghouls come out! Chilling new haunted maze, and scare zones that will have you looking over your shoulder (and everywhere else!) in Mt. Rotting Cemetery and Arachnid Alley.

Track or Treat Train Rides

When: October 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, 29-30; 10am,11am,1:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm
Where: California State Railroad Museum
What: New this year! Enjoy a delightful not frightful ride behind a diesel locomotive operated by our ‘Skeleton Crew,’ while our “(g)host with the most” car attendants keep the party going for 45 fun-filled minutes. Before and after your ride, enjoy exclusive access to the Passenger Station complete with fantastic games, activities, and photo ops for all ages! Come dressed to impress in your Halloween best, and bring a bag to collect fun “Track or Treat” goodies!

Halloween Costume Skate Party

When: Friday, October 14; 7-9pm
Where: Skatetown Ice Arena, Roseville
What: Halloween themed ice skating event. All ages are welcome at the Saturday evening 7-9pm session; however, entertainment and activities are geared toward older teens and young adults.
Cost: $19.00 General Admission, $4.00 skate rental

Fairytale Town Safe & Super Halloween

When: October 15, 16, 22, 23; 5-9pm
Where: Fairytale Town
What: Enjoy 4 days of trick-or-treating and family friendly fun at the 36th annual Safe & Super Halloween! This Halloween extravaganza features treat stations, a costume parade, hands-on activities, and lots of fun.
Cost: Pre-Sale $13.00 per person, age 1 and under FREE; Day-Of $16.00 per person

Trick or Treat Safetyville

When: Saturday, October 29; 4-8pm
Where: Safetyville USA, 3909 Bradshaw Rd., Sacramento
What: Set in Safetyville USA, the unique miniature city, the event features carnival games, a costume parade, safety demonstrations and activities, and of course, Trick-or-Treat stations.
Cost: $5.00 per person, kids 3 and under FREE

Pumpkins and Planes

When: Saturday, October 29; 10am – 2pm
Where: Aerospace Museum
What: Celebrate Halloween early with Amelia Bearhart and friends on Saturday, October 29th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in our huge outdoor Air Park. Fly on by for trick-or-treating, music, Halloween-themed activities, and games for the whole family! Don’t forget your boarding pass for our haunted aircraft!
Cost: $15 general admission; kids 3 and under free; suggested donation of $1 per person to tour the haunted aircraft.

Halloween Musical Saw Pop-Up + Photography

When: Saturday, October 29; 9:30am & 11:00am and Sunday, October 30; 10:30am & 12:00pm
Where: Saturday – William Land Park, Sunday – Arden Park
What: Wear your Halloween costumes and Jillian (guitar/voice) and Caroline (on musical saw) for a fun and spooky morning of Kids Music in the Park! Photographer, Valerie Leddy, will be present to capture candid photos of you and your family enjoying the event and music for you to own, print, and enjoy for years to come. Grow your child’s love for music in a welcoming social setting with other families ages 0-5 (although older children are always welcome). Classes are 45-minutes long.
Cost: Saturday in William Land Park – $65 per household/family.
Sunday in Arden Park – $25 per household/family (no photography).

Wild Howl-O-Ween

When: Saturday, October 29; 10am-2pm
Where: Folsom Zoo
What: Calling all ghosts, goblins, and witches…Come and enjoy our family-friendly Halloween event with a spooky animal-themed scavenger hunt and fun goodies. Costumes are encouraged! Follow the clues on our self-guided passport—each clue will lead you to a not-too-spooky animal and a vendor booth to collect a treat. Get your passport stamped at each stop on the scavenger hunt. When you’re finished, turn in your passport for a chance to win prizes.
Cost: $7.00 per person; kids under 2 free

Trick or Treat in the Historic District

When: Saturday, October 29; 1-4pm
Where: Historic District of Folsom
What: Visit Historic Folsom for some good old fashioned Trick or Treating! Fun and treats up and down the district!
1-4PM Trick or Treating with all participating merchants on Sutter Street. 1-4pm Jump Houses, Games, Prizes and more!
Cost: FREE

Halloween at Hagan

When: Saturday, October 29; 3-6pm
Where: Hagan Community Center, Rancho Cordova
What: Come dressed in your Halloween best and join spooky festivities for the whole family including trunk or treat, zombie run, carnival games, inflatables, music, obstacle course, and food.
Cost: $5.00 per person

Wee Halloween

When: Wednesday, October 29; 11am and 2pm
Where: Crocker Art Museum
What: The Crocker kicks off a thrilling Halloween weekend for little ghosts and goblins of all ages with a fun-filled, family-friendly gallery experiences featuring festive stories, a few tricks, and the opportunity for families to take costumed portraits.
Cost: $25.00 adults and kids (advance registration required)

Halloween at the Farm

When: Saturday, October 29; 8:00am – 1:00pm
Where: Soil Born Farms
What: Costumes encouraged, explore the Spooktacular Youth Garden, meet live creatures, nature crafts, solar telescopes for viewing, Bat Hollow Maze, live music, food, and more.
Cost: FREE to be on the farm; brunch available for extra fee, activities area in the Youth Garden $5.00 per person

Trick or Treat at the Sacramento Children’s Museum

When: Monday, October 31; 10am-12noon
Where: Sacramento Children’s Museum, Rancho Cordova
What: Calling all boos and ghouls, join in for a fun day of trick-or-treating featuring multiple candy stations, outside play, art activities and more!
Cost: FREE (advance registration required); They are welcoming a donation of new or gently used children’s books for their lending library.
