Free Elk Grove Go Fest

go-fest 2014

You’ll find a FREE rock wall, zipline, human foosball, inflatable slides, and other extreme fun at May 31’s Go Fest in Elk Grove! I can’t think of a more fun way to celebrate active, healthy living with our kids!

There will be live musical entertainment for all ages. I am most excited about a band called UR-DOM – the “real musical deal in tween size shoes” – band members are 11, 12 and 13 years old and cover popular songs from The Beatles to Janis Joplin to Green Day to Gnarls Barkley.

Up for a Fun Run? Cleaner than a mud run…quirkier than your average 5K…it’s the GO Run! Run, jog, walk, stroll, sashay, or skip along this 3 mile course hosted by Kaiser Permanente, The Running Zone, and Moms In Motion.  As you make your way through the route, stop at each of the 6 THRIVE Activity Stations to participate in cross training intervals led by Moms In Motion.  Pick up a Join the Movement “tip chip” at each station.  Collect all 6 and redeem these for one free GO Fest t-shirt (while supplies last).  GO Run! Is a recreational event intended to promote fun and fitness.  A timing clock will be available on site, however, the run will not be a timed or competitive event.

When: Saturday, May 31, 2014; 9am – 5pm

Where: 8280 Longleaf Drive, Elk Grove, CA ; Event map

My love for exploring and creating experiences with my three kids led to the founding of SacramentoSidetracks.com in 2009. I realized that Sacramento has so much to offer and I was excited to share my findings with other parents. Besides simply having fun, these are the other positive side effects of taking my kids on outings that I’ve discovered: we have quality time together away from the distractions at home, we cultivate our curiosity, learn new things, conversations are triggered by what we see and do, we connect and bond as a family, and we create new memories. Ready to get sidetracked, too? Let me be your guide!
