Trampoline Fun at Sky High Sports

Now ranking #1 on my list for PARENT/KID fun (at the same time!) is Sky High Sports in Rancho Cordova!

It was my husband’s birthday weekend and I wanted to go somewhere as a family that was well-suited for the kids but where we grown-ups could have fun too.  I decided to make plans to meet up with friends at a place where we could all jump together.

Sky High Sports is a trampoline fun center that has specially designed trampoline courts with thick safety pads.  With 360 degrees of trampoline walls and court supervisors, there’s no falling off these trampolines.  Sky High Sports was started by Jerry and Ron Raymond, brothers who were born and raised in the Bay Area.  With 3 kids each, they wanted to have a fun safe place where they could have a blast playing with their kids.  I would say they’ve definitely achieved that!

There are five trampoline areas to choose from:  The Little Jumpers Court, The Little Jumpers Dodge-ball Court, The big Dodge-ball Court, the big Trampoline Court, and the Foam Pit.

The Little Jumpers Court

We hit this spot first.  It’s for kids 8 and under, which is so great because they have the freedom to jump all over the place without worry.  There is a supervisor that makes sure everyone is following the rules for their safety.  As a parent, you can either stand on the sidelines and watch or you can walk on the trampoline with your child if you’ve paid admission for yourself.  My kids did not hesitate and were on this trampoline as fast as they could get their socks and shoes off!  I worried that my 2-year-old might be scared but not one bit.  They all had a blast!

The Foam Pit

It was unanimous…this was our favorite spot!  You stand in line to take your turn down the lane and then jump INTO the soft foam pit.  You can jump, cannonball, flip, dive…whatever you want to do!  SO much fun!

The Trampoline Court for All Ages

You can bounce off the walls here…literally!  Talk about feeling like a kid again!  This is the area that you and your kids can jump together.  If you have little ones, you must stay with them but it felt safe for us to all be in there together.  This is where we ended up and so I was quite pleased that we made it to 3 different areas of Sky High in the one hour.  However, in the future I will plan on spending two hours there just because we had so much fun.

We didn’t try out Dodge-ball this time, but my seven-year-old is anxious to do it next time.  We are now planning a date night with all of our couple friends to go and really jump like crazy…AND my kids want their birthday parties to be at Sky High!

Here’s what you need to know:

No socks at Sky High – just bare feet or shoes.  No cameras allowed on the trampolines.  Just take pictures of your kids from the sidelines.

If you have never been to Sky High before, your first stop when arriving is a computer to register at.  The process is simple and fairly quick then when you proceed to the front desk, they already have your info and give you Liability Waivers to sign.  We were there on a super busy Saturday morning and the whole process probably took us about 20-30 minutes.  For future visits, it should be a quick check-in since you can go straight up to the front desk and I would suggest printing out the Liablity Waiver from the website to speed it up even more.

When you pay your admission, you only pay for those that are actually jumping.  If you have a child 2 or under than they can jump for free if you pay for yourself to jump with them.  The jumpers are given a bracelet that the staff will use to identify when your time is up.  Jump time is an hour but the staff told me that when you do not start on the hour or half hour they round up, giving you extra time.  They are very organized and fair about this and we were told nicely when our time was up.  We did not feel pushed out and took our time rounding everyone up.

My love for exploring and creating experiences with my three kids led to the founding of SacramentoSidetracks.com in 2009. I realized that Sacramento has so much to offer and I was excited to share my findings with other parents. Besides simply having fun, these are the other positive side effects of taking my kids on outings that I’ve discovered: we have quality time together away from the distractions at home, we cultivate our curiosity, learn new things, conversations are triggered by what we see and do, we connect and bond as a family, and we create new memories. Ready to get sidetracked, too? Let me be your guide!
