Disney on Ice Toy Story 3 Review

The TOYS WERE BACK IN TOWN last night for Disney on Ice Toy Story 3’s Opening Night performance at the Power Balance Pavilion!

My entire family has been anticipating this show for quite a while now and so we were happy to finally experience it!

Almost all of our favorite Toy Story characters presented themselves and the kids were immediately mesmerized.  We hooped and hollered for Jessie and Woody…then were in suspense for my boys’ favorite…Buzz.  Where was he?  In the video game!  His  galactic battle with Emperor Zurg was the boys’ favorite scene from the first half of the show.  However, the hoe-down at Woody’s Roundup had my daughter and I dancing in our seats to “Hoe-Down Throw-Down”!  Yeehaw!

This is the first Disney on Ice show that we’ve seen lead us through a favorite movie rather then a theme, which was perfect since we are nuts about Toy Story!  All of the songs were familiar ones from the Toy Story movies and so we had a ball singing along.

In the second half of the show (which was the Toy Story 3-focused part) , Barbie and her friends came out in all of their 80’s glory and gave us quite a show!  Then I got the biggest kick out of Ken skating in his sparkly red suit to “Puttin’ on the Ritz”!

Buzz and the gang continued with heroic action as they escaped from the rambunctious tots of Sunnyside Daycare and raced for home!

Disney has done a fabulous job of bringing the favorite aspects of the Toy Story Movies to the ice!  The colors, costumes, props, and talent were impressive.  We enjoyed every minute of it and I definitely recommend seeing it if you can.

The show runs through Monday, February 20th.  It’s not too late to get tickets, so check out the info below if you are interested in going!

Here are the TIPS I shared on Facebook:

Don’t forget cash for parking ($12); Allow yourself about 30 minutes to park, to go through security at the entrance, and find your seats. Other than that, it is a kid-friendly show…as in EVERYONE there has kids…so if you need to get up and down or deal with them in any way, it’s ok!

My love for exploring and creating experiences with my three kids led to the founding of SacramentoSidetracks.com in 2009. I realized that Sacramento has so much to offer and I was excited to share my findings with other parents. Besides simply having fun, these are the other positive side effects of taking my kids on outings that I’ve discovered: we have quality time together away from the distractions at home, we cultivate our curiosity, learn new things, conversations are triggered by what we see and do, we connect and bond as a family, and we create new memories. Ready to get sidetracked, too? Let me be your guide!
