Each year, Red Robin hosts a Kids’ Cook-Off Championship event, which is an “iron chef”-like national cooking competition for kids.  This year’s Championship will be held in Denver, Colorado on December 9th.  Finalists will be making their own special recipe for the chance to have his/her gourmet burger sold at Red Robin restaurants to benefit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Ten finalists were chosen this year from thousands of entries and one of them is an 8-year-old boy named Dominic from right here in Sacramento!  He has created the “Jalapeno Cornbread Chili Burger”.

To my excitement, Red Robin has asked me to be attend the event as the Sacramento Kid’s Cook-Off  Correspondent!  I am feeling very lucky to participate in such a fun event for a wonderful cause.  I will be sharing the details of the event with you after I return.

Do you want to vote for Dominic to win “Fan Favorite”?  The kid chef with the most online votes will receive some great prizes.

Go to www.redrobinkidscookoff.com.  Click on Dominic and then click on “Vote”.  It is very quick!  Let’s help him win!  You can submit one vote per day up until the day of the competition.  You can also register there in advance to watch the finalists compete on December 9th at 10:00am via live webcast.

Good luck, Dominic!

My love for exploring and creating experiences with my three kids led to the founding of SacramentoSidetracks.com in 2009. I realized that Sacramento has so much to offer and I was excited to share my findings with other parents. Besides simply having fun, these are the other positive side effects of taking my kids on outings that I’ve discovered: we have quality time together away from the distractions at home, we cultivate our curiosity, learn new things, conversations are triggered by what we see and do, we connect and bond as a family, and we create new memories. Ready to get sidetracked, too? Let me be your guide!
